Where to Stay in Delhi as a Wedding Guest (Without Bankrupting Yourself)

Wedding-season Delhi hotels can cost ₹15,000+/night. Here's the savvy guest's guide to staying comfortable for half that.

You got the wedding invite. Beautiful card, fancy venue (probably a Chattarpur farmhouse or Mehrauli garden), three-night function. Now comes the price tag of accommodation — and Delhi wedding-season hotels (October-March) are not kind.

This guide is for guests who want to be present for every function without spending ₹50,000+ on accommodation.

The wedding-season cost problem

Delhi 4-star hotels (Andaz, JW Marriott, Vivanta) charge ₹15,000-25,000/night during wedding season. A group of 5-8 guests sharing 3 hotel rooms can hit ₹50,000-80,000/night. For a 3-night function, that's ₹1,50,000+ — often more than the wedding itself per guest.

The smart alternative: serviced apartments

A 3BHK serviced apartment in Chattarpur or Mehrauli costs ₹5,500-7,500/night for the entire unit. That sleeps 6-10 guests in real bedrooms with full bathrooms.

Math: 3BHK at ₹6,200/night for 8 guests = ₹775/night/guest. Same group in 4 hotel rooms = ₹15,000/night/guest.

Where wedding venues actually are in Delhi

Most South Delhi destination weddings happen in three clusters:

Cluster 1: Chattarpur farmhouses

The biggest concentration. Westin Sohna, Crescendo Resort, Mannat Farms, Ferns N Petals farmhouses. All within 5-15 minutes of our Chattarpur properties.

Cluster 2: Mehrauli (Olive Bar, Andaz, The Lodhi, Garden of Five Senses)

10-15 min from Chattarpur, 15-20 min from Hauz Khas.

Cluster 3: Aerocity (JW Marriott, Pullman)

Best stayed in directly (5-min away) — but Aerocity hotels are equally expensive. Our Chattarpur stays are 20 min and 1/3 the cost.

Cluster 4: South Delhi farmhouses (Sainik Farms, Dera Mandi)

Same Chattarpur area applies.

Best Belladonna stays by wedding venue

For Chattarpur farmhouse weddings

3BHK Bohemian Gem Chhatarpur or 3BHK Paradise Chattarpur — both sleep 8-10. Walking distance to Mehrauli.

For Mehrauli (Olive, Andaz) weddings

3BHK in Chattarpur (12 min) or 3BHK in Hauz Khas Village (10 min). HKV has the advantage of post-function rooftop bars open until 1 AM.

For Aerocity / Gurgaon outskirts weddings

Chattarpur 3BHK (25-30 min to Aerocity). Way cheaper than Aerocity hotels.

For Lutyens / Lodhi wedding venues

3BHK in Lajpat Nagar — direct Metro to Khan Market, 12 min to Lodhi venues.

What to look for in a wedding-guest apartment

  • 3BHK minimum (sleeps 6-8). 2BHK for groups of 4.
  • Multiple bathrooms (so getting ready before functions isn't a queue)
  • Iron + ironing board (Indian wedding outfits need touch-ups)
  • Hair dryer + makeup mirror (basic stuff, not all apartments have)
  • Steam iron OR garment steamer (for crumpled lehengas/sherwanis post-flight)
  • Free parking (you'll get drop-offs from venue cars)
  • 24/7 WhatsApp host (in case of late-night function returns or wardrobe emergencies)

Logistics tips for wedding guests

1. Book your stay BEFORE the wedding announcements go out

Hotel rates triple within 48 hours of an invite going viral on social media. Direct-booking apartments are less sensitive to this.

2. Have one person book the apartment for the group

Most apartment operators (us included) accept group bookings of 6-10. Splitting cost is easier post-booking.

3. Brief the host on the function timeline

We adjust check-in/check-out times around mehendi (afternoon), sangeet (evening), and reception (late night). Standard hotels won't.

4. Use the kitchen for breakfast / chai

Wedding functions usually skip breakfast. A working kitchen with chai/coffee/toast saves you the awkward 10 AM hotel restaurant rush before the next function.

5. Order outfits + accessories to the apartment

Amazon, Myntra, AJIO all deliver to South Delhi in 1 day. Many wedding guests buy last-minute accessories or have outfit emergencies — apartments accept multiple deliveries; hotels can be cagey.

The mehendi-night hangover problem

Day 2 of a 3-day wedding usually starts with a hangover. Apartments solve this:

  • Quiet bedrooms (vs hotel hallway noise)
  • Kitchen for chai + paracetamol + toast
  • Late checkout flexibility
  • Quick Uber to mehendi venue

Honest disclosure

Apartments are NOT for every wedding guest. Skip the apartment route if:

  • You want hotel concierge / room service (apartments don't have)
  • You want a gym + spa (most apartments don't)
  • You're alone and want to socialise with other wedding guests at hotel bar
  • You're attending a 1-day function only (hotel one-night is fine)

Pricing reality check

For a 3-night Delhi wedding:

  • Single hotel room (3-star): ₹4,500/night × 3 = ₹13,500
  • Premium hotel room (5-star): ₹15,000 × 3 = ₹45,000
  • 2BHK apartment for 4 guests (₹5,500 × 3 = ₹16,500 / ₹4,125 per guest)
  • 3BHK apartment for 8 guests (₹6,200 × 3 = ₹18,600 / ₹2,325 per guest)
