About Lotus Temple

The Bahá'í House of Worship, universally known as the Lotus Temple, is one of Delhi's most visited buildings, drawing over 4 million visitors annually. Completed in 1986, its 27 free-standing marble-clad petals arranged in clusters of three form a stunning lotus flower shape that has won numerous architectural awards. The temple is open to people of all faiths and backgrounds, offering a serene space for meditation and prayer in the heart of bustling South Delhi. Surrounded by 26 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens with nine reflecting pools, the temple is especially breathtaking at dusk when it is illuminated against the evening sky. The architect, Fariborz Sahba, spent over a decade designing this masterpiece, which has become a symbol of India's unity in diversity.
